Island Paradise
By Turk Pipin, February 2004
In your deepest dreams, there exists a place beyond
compare— a tiny island paradise with luxurious cottages, fine food and drinks, soft sand
beaches, and beautiful turquoise waters.
Far from the madding crowd, gentle Caribbean breezes
sway your hammock on a perfect day—a secluded picnic, a private sailboat
ride to a snorkeling spot among tropical fish, a barbecue on the beach with a
few other lucky visitors, and then all of you dancing under the moonlight to
the music of steel drums. Waking from your reverie the next morning, you realize
that your dream has come true. You are on the 113-acre island of Petit St. Vincent,
a private resort with just 22 luxurious stone and timber cottages. They each
have a private sundeck and beautiful views, and come without the distractions
of televisions and telephones.
You arrived on the windward edge of the Grenadines by flying to Barbados and then to neighboring Union Island,
where a private launch has brought you to the most exclusive all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. Winter
Getaway Rates start November 1st at $585 to $910 (December 19 to January 5th 2005) per night per couple and
include a luxury private cottage, three gourmet meals a day, morning coffee and afternoon tea, room service,
and activities, such as snorkeling and windsurfing. You can even paddle out in a glass-bottom kayak for
a unique view of the incredible reefs surrounding the island. The only thing wrong with this dream is that
it has to end.
